General Description

The downhole tester valve is full opening and Annulus pressue operated in cased hole which composed of four sections:

  1. Ball valve section-Ball valve assy and the mechanism that rotates the ball valve to open and close.

  2. Upper hydraulic Section-also called power section, there is a selector which provides the means to close the valve and lock the ball valve in lock open mode.

  3. Nitrogen Section-To provide the force needed to close the ball valve.

  4. Metering Section-The silicone oil in this section acts as a barrier between the tool and the annular fluid.

Operating

Generally speaking, the tool can be multicycled through applying pressure and releasing the operating pressure, there is special groove in "Selector" section, that is through the selector, the normal mode and lock open mode can be available.

Details as below:

From Point A to Point B-apply operating pressure, Ball valve open.

From Point B to Point C-Release operating pressure, Ball locked open.

From Point C to Poing D-Apply operating pressure,Ball still oepn.

From Point D to Point E-Release operating pressure, Ball close.

The above cycles can be repeated.


How to get Lock open mode from normal Mode?

Add 300-500psi to the operating pressure which operate the normal mode.

Operating Pressure

The operating pressure is related with tool depth hydrostatic pressure and downhole mud temperature.

There is a pressure table as per hydrostatic pressure and downhole mud temperature, as per the well condition, the actual operated pressure can be calculated.
